The new FAO director general identified Africa as a top priority in this time of limited resources. His success with Brazil’s “zero hunger” initiative makes me hopeful that the FAO might improve it’s track record with member countries in coming years. He identified political will as central to making any relevant strides in turning around food insecurity.
I’m loving this quote by da Silva, takin’ it back to the roots:
“You solve food security problems at your village, at your town, at your neighborhood – not at the global level. Nobody eats at the global level. You eat in the restaurant, in the cantina, at your house. That’s where you need to provide those answers.”
